Wooden Wick 101
With wooden wicks, I decided to incorporate them into the specialty concrete jars as an innovative way to set my designs apart from one another. Not only that, one of the aspects I particularly enjoy is the soothing crackling sound they produce. Additionally, using wooden wicks presented a welcomed challenge after rigorous testing over a span of two weeks.. So I decided to share some wisdom of what to expect when lighting your wooden wick candle. Here's what makes them special:
Aesthetic Appeal: Wooden wicks add a rustic and visually appealing element to your candles. They create a crackling sound similar to a fireplace, enhancing the ambiance.
Even Burn: When properly maintained, wooden wicks can provide an even burn, preventing tunneling (uneven wax melting) commonly seen with cotton wicks.
Long-Lasting: Wooden wicks tend to last longer than cotton wicks
Eco-Friendly: Many consumers prefer wooden wicks because they are often made from sustainable materials, making them an eco-friendly choice.
With your wooden wick candle, keep these thoughts in mind:
Patience: Wooden wicks can sometimes take a bit longer to light, and the flame may dip in and out during different burns. This is normal as wooden wicks act like mini fireplaces. Be patient and enjoy the soothing crackling sound they produce.
Difficult to Light: Some wooden wicks can be challenging to light, and it may take a few tries to get them burning properly. This is expected if the wooden wick is not trimmed properly for each relight.
Use a Long Lighter: Wooden wicks may require a longer exposure to the flame when lighting. Hold a long lighter to the wick for about 5 seconds to ensure it lights properly.
Safety: Always burn your candle on a heat-resistant surface and away from drafts. Keep it out of reach of children and pets. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
